A primary purpose of the Motion Picture Sound Editors is to educate the other members, the entertainment industry, and the general public about the importance and artistic merit of the sound track.

A major way we do this is through our Golden Reel Awards, providing an annual recognition of the best sound work in movies, television, home video, computer entertainment, special venues, and student films.

The organization works closely with the sound community and Film Program Advisors from around the world in an effort to provide mentorship and training for editors, students, and educators. Our goal is to inform and advise on new and emerging technologies and editing applications that are being used by current sound professionals. We want to help shape the next generation of sound editors in film, television, gaming, new media, and more.

If you are a program advisor or educator, please contact Anne Slack at [email protected] with your program's information and point of contact to be added to the MPSE website.
